Rooms and amenities
What room types does The Namkhan offer?
Ten room types across three categories: Glamping (Riverfront Glamping 70m², Explorer Glamping 55m²), Rooms and Suites (Art Deluxe Room, Art Deluxe Suite, Art Deluxe Family Room, Riverview Suite, Riverfront Suite), and Private Villas (Sunset Villa 144m², Sunset River Villa 174m²). All include daily breakfast, pool access, and shuttle to town in evening.
Does every room have air conditioning?
Yes. All rooms, suites, glamping tents, and villas at The Namkhan have full air conditioning alongside ceiling and floor fans.
Is Wi-Fi available throughout the property?
Yes. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, villas, and public areas of the property.
What pool facilities are available?
The Namkhan has two outdoor pools open from 7am to 9pm. Complimentary pool towels are provided. Pool access is included with all room types. The Jungle Spa has a separate spa pool.
Are complimentary bicycles available?
Yes. Complimentary bicycles are available for guests to explore the surrounding area and Luang Prabang's temples, markets, and scenic villages.
Does the hotel have a gift shop?
Yes. A gift shop on the property sells local handicrafts, products made in-house with organic materials, contributions from artisan staff and local community
Is there a library?
Yes. A reading area with a curated collection of books on Lao culture, history, and travel is available on-property.
Are hammocks available?
Yes. Hammocks are positioned throughout the riverside gardens for guest use.
What is the spa's operating schedule?
The Jungle Spa operates from 10am to 8pm daily. Advance booking is recommended for specific treatments.
Is parking available?
Yes. Complimentary on-site parking is available for guests arriving by car or motorbike.
Is there a safe in the room?
Yes. Every room and villa includes an in-room safety deposit box.
What is included in the daily welcome amenities?
Every guest receives a refillable hot-and-cold water bottle and a bamboo toothbrush. In-room organic herbal tea and coffee are restocked daily. Eco-friendly bathroom amenities (100% natural) are provided.
Location and getting here
Where is The Namkhan located?
On the banks of the Nam Khan River, approximately 15 minutes by road from Luang Prabang International Airport, the Laos-China Railway station, and the UNESCO-listed Old Town.
How far is the property from the airport?
Approximately 6km, a 15-minute drive. The hotel arranges private car transfers on request. Request at least 24 hours in advance through Guest Services.
Is there a complimentary shuttle to Luang Prabang town?
Yes, a complimentary shuttle runs between the resort and town center (post office) daily. The shuttle schedule is based on the resort occupancy.
Can the hotel arrange airport and railway transfers?
The Namkhan offers private transportation services at an additional charge. Private car transfers from the airport and the Laos-China Railway station are available. Request at least 24 hours in advance through the Guest Services team.
Is the property wheelchair accessible?
Select villas and public areas are accessible. Contact the hotel before booking if you have specific accessibility requirements so the team can advise on the most suitable accommodation.
Dining
Is breakfast included?
Yes. Daily breakfast is included with all room types and served at ROOTS Restaurant each morning.
Does the menu change daily?
Yes. The ROOTS Restaurant menu changes daily based on what the organic farm produces that morning. The same dish is rarely served two days running.
What dietary requirements can be accommodated?
Vegetarian and vegan options are available daily. Gluten-free options (rice-based Lao dishes, fresh salads) are available. Food allergies can be accommodated with advance notice. Note: halal-certified dishes are not currently available, though vegetarian and plant-based options can be arranged.
Is room service available?
Yes. Room service is available from 7am to 9pm. Contact Guest Services to order.
What are the bar's operating hours?
The riverside bar and pool bar are open from 11am to 10pm daily. Cocktails, local beers, organic wines, and non-alcoholic drinks are available.
Can private dining be arranged?
Yes. Private candlelight dinners, riverside barbecue setups, and special occasion meals can be arranged through Guest Services. Advance notice is appreciated.
Are cooking classes available?
Yes. Lao cooking classes run at ROOTS, using ingredients from the organic farm. A dedicated Kids Lao Cooking Class is also available. Arrange through Guest Services or the Experiences team.
Policies
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in: 2pm. Check-out: 11:30am. Early check-in and late check-out are available subject to availability, contact Guest Services.
What payment methods are accepted?
Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted for both bookings and on-site payments.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. We are delighted to welcome your four-legged family members. The hotel accommodates well-behaved cats and dogs up to 30 kg. Other pet species are permitted, provided they are kept on a leash or in a carrier at all times in public areas. Pets are not permitted in the wellness area or around the pools. For the safety and comfort of all our guests, we kindly ask that pets are not left unattended in rooms. Breeds traditionally classified as dangerous are not permitted on the property.
Is there a minimum stay requirement?
No minimum stay for accommodation. Retreat packages require a minimum of 2 nights.
What is the policy for children?
Children under 6 years old may share existing bedding with parents at no charge. Children aged 6–12 require an extra bed, which is subject to an additional charge. Families with infants and young children are well-accommodated, contact Guest Services to arrange specifics.
Are there resort fees?
No. There are no additional resort fees. Amenities including Wi-Fi and pool access are included in the room rate.
Is there a no-deposit policy?
No damage deposit is required. Booking payment terms and conditions are based on the selected rate plans and promotions. Contact the hotel or your booking platform for details.
Are group discounts available?
Yes. Group discounts are available for bookings of 5 or more rooms. Contact Guest Services directly for group rate enquiries.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation policies are subject to the selected rate plans and promotions. Contact the hotel or your booking platform for the terms applicable to your booking.
Activities and culture
What outdoor activities are available on the property?
Kayaking and tubing on the Nam Khan River, guided eco-farm tours, cooking classes, craft workshops (bamboo weaving, flower making, candle making), and guided nature walks.
What excursions does the hotel arrange off-property?
Mekong River cruises (private and shared), Kuang Si Waterfall guided trip, Pak Ou Caves by boat, ethical elephant sanctuary visits (Mandalao), Living Lands rice farming experience, Luang Prabang temple tours, and guided Tak Bat (alms-giving) morning visits.
Can the hotel arrange a traditional Baci blessing ceremony?
Yes. The Baci ceremony is a traditional Lao blessing ritual that the hotel can arrange on-property for arrivals, special occasions, or as a cultural experience. Contact Guest Services in advance.
Is the alms-giving ceremony (Tak Bat) suitable for all guests?
The Tak Bat is a sacred daily practice, not a tourist attraction. The hotel arranges guided visits that position guests respectfully and ensure the ceremony is not disrupted. Appropriate dress (covered shoulders and knees) is required.
Wellness and retreats
Are yoga sessions included in the room rate?
Yoga, meditation, and Qi Gong sessions are available daily as paid activities, bookable per session at the wellness centre. Multi-night retreat packages include scheduled sessions, specialist programming, and meal plans as part of the package.
Is the sauna available to all guests?
Yes. The river-view sauna and ice baths are available to all guests at an additional charge. Some retreat packages include them as part of the package. Contact Guest Services for session availability.
What retreat packages are available?
Multi-night retreat packages are offered in Essential and Immersion versions, with a minimum 2-night stay. Each combines accommodation, structured wellness sessions, wellness team access, and meal plans. See the Wellness Centre page for current packages and pricing.
Sustainability
What sustainability certifications does the hotel hold?
Gold Plastic-Free Laos · Travelife · ASEAN Green · SLH Considerate Collection · Hilton Honors. Certifications are reviewed annually.
Are single-use plastics used on the property?
No. Single-use plastics have been eliminated across all operations. Guests receive a refillable water bottle on arrival.
How many local people does the hotel employ?
More than 60 people from surrounding villages are employed at The Namkhan. Healthcare is covered for all employees, and many live on-site in staff accommodation. For more, see the Sustainability page.
